UWI Seismic Research Centre Reports 3.8 Magnitude Earthquake near Trinidad & Tobago

The University of the West Indies, Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC), has detected an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on April 15, 2024, at 11:10 am local time (15:10 UTC).

According to the data provided by UWI-SRC, the earthquake’s epicenter was located at latitude 10.87N and longitude 62.12W, with a depth of 35 km.

The quake was felt in nearby cities, including Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, which was approximately 71 km west-northwest of the epicenter. Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, and San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, were also affected, with distances of 96 km and 100 km respectively, west-northwest and northwest of the epicenter.
