Opening Session of the Financial Action Task Force Evaluation Kicks Off in Montserrat

In a significant development for Montserrat’s financial integrity, today marked the commencement of the onsite Mutual Evaluation by the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF). Her Excellency The Governor, Mrs Sarah Tucker, alongside The Premier, Honourable Joseph E. Farrell, and the Honourable Attorney General, Mrs Sheree Jemmotte-Rodney, spearheaded the opening statements, joined by the entire Cabinet. The evaluation, scheduled from April 8th to April 19th, 2024, aims to scrutinize the effectiveness of measures against money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.

The CFATF assessment forms part of a regular evaluation cycle, crucial for determining the adequacy of Montserrat’s systems to combat financial crimes. Her Excellency and the Honourable Premier expressed gratitude to all competent authorities involved, underscoring the collective effort to fortify Montserrat’s defenses against money laundering and terrorist financing.
