Official start of 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season only 100 days away

Is it too soon? Well, it’s never too early to start thinking about what preparations have to be made as the official start of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season is 100 days away.

Already, weather experts at AccuWeather have expressed concern about a potentially super-charged season as it pays attention to two key factors, the return of La Nina and warm waters across the Atlantic.

In its wrap-up of the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the NOAA said the Atlantic basin saw 20 named storms, which ranked fourth for the most-named storms in a year since 1950.  Seven storms were hurricanes and three intensified to major hurricanes. The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season was characterised by record-warm Atlantic Sea surface temperatures and a strong El Nino.
