Honourable Premier and Minister of Agriculture Team Up with Local Activists for Margarita Beach Cleanup

Today, the Honourable Premier of Montserrat, Joseph E. Farrell, and the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Crenston Buffonge, joined forces with Fayre Ryan to lead a beach cleanup at Margarita Beach. Fayre Ryan, daughter of local resident Yvonne Ryan, spearheaded this grassroots effort to rally the community in preserving Montserrat’s natural beauty.

The cleanup event aimed to address growing concerns about environmental degradation. Fayre Ryan stressed the importance of individual contributions and community unity in maintaining pristine beaches and unspoiled nature. Beach cleanups have a proven track record of success in the Caribbean, and Montserrat is no exception. The initiative not only focused on cleaning the coastline but also aimed to inspire lasting change within the community.

In addition to the cleanup, Fayre Ryan highlighted the need for improved waste management infrastructure in Montserrat. She emphasized the importance of installing trash bins at beaches as a sustainable solution to maintain cleanliness along the island’s coastal areas. Recognizing the role of government support, Fayre Ryan urged for cooperation in implementing such initiatives.

Responding to the call for action, Victory Services, a longstanding supporter of the Montserrat community, stepped forward as the sponsor for the Margarita Beach cleanup event. With over 30 years of service, Victory Services has been dedicated to providing affordable shipping costs while promoting environmental protection and recycling. This sponsorship aligns with their commitment to community welfare and environmental stewardship. They generously provided t-shirts for participants and a delicious lunch with refreshments.
