Veteran Bahamian recording artiste, Priscilla Jasmine Rollins, passed away on Saturday.
She was 79 years old.
Rollins, known for her captivating performances and unique vocal style, captured the hearts of audiences across the Bahamas and beyond and she was dubbed “The Bahamian Queen of Soul”.
Her music resonated deeply with Bahamians and her song “Independence Morning” is hailed one of the best tributes to the country’s independence from the United Kingdom.
Prime Minister Philip Davis led tributes to the beloved entertainer.
“Her voice, a symbol of our nation’s spirit and independence, will be profoundly missed. Ann and I extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who were moved by her music. Priscilla’s legacy will forever echo in the heart of The Bahamas. May she rest in peace,” Davis wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
