Sint Maarten: Shooting Incident Rocks Simpson-Bay Nightclub: KPSM Launches Investigation

The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) has released details regarding a shooting incident that occurred in the vicinity of a popular nightclub in Simpson-Bay during the early hours of Sunday, April 14th, 2024.

Multiple urgent calls were received by central police dispatch at approximately 4:00 AM, reporting several individuals shot near the nightclub. In response, several police patrols were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found a young male victim lying on the opposite side of the club, with no signs of life. Additionally, two male victims and one female victim sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. One victim was treated at the scene and transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) in a serious but stable condition, before being transferred to a medical center on the French side of Sint Maarten. The other two victims had already been transported to the hospital on the French side prior to the arrival of police and detectives.

The detective department is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. KPSM notes an increase in arrests related to firearm possession in recent times and emphasizes the seriousness of this offense.

With the main part of Carnival approaching, the police will implement strict measures against individuals found in possession of weapons or drugs to ensure the safety and security of the festivities.
