LIAT 2020 Nears Operations with Demo Flights for AOC Acquisition

LIAT 2020, the successor to LIAT (1974) Ltd., is in the final stages of preparing for operations pending the acquisition of necessary Air Operations Certificates (AOC).

Ambassador Daven Joseph, interim chairman of LIAT 2020, has confirmed progress towards operational readiness, scheduling two demonstration flights for this week.

These demonstration flights, customary in aviation procedures, are intended to facilitate the acquisition of the AOC in cooperation with the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA).

One demonstration flight is scheduled for St. Kitts on Thursday, and another for St. Lucia on Friday, with ECCAA officials and LIAT 2020 staff on board an ATR aircraft from the former LIAT.

Following these demonstration flights, issuance of the AOC is anticipated in the near future, in accordance with discussions held with ECCAA and Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

LIAT 2020, established as a joint venture with Air Peace, intends to augment its fleet to six aircraft, with the addition of three planes from Air Peace. However, the specific timeline for the arrival of these aircraft remains undisclosed.
