Julian Marley & Antaeus win Grammy for Best Reggae Album

Julian Marley and Antaeus have the won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album at the 66th annual awards for the album ‘Colors of Royal’, coming out on top of a field that also included three previous winners of the Award.

Marley and Antaeus were nominated along with Beenie Man (Simma), Buju Banton (Born For Greatness), Burning Spear (No Destroyer), and Collie Buddz for ‘Cali Roots Riddim 2023’.

On Sunday, the presenter named the duo as the winner during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards premiere ceremony, held in Los Angeles, United States. However, Marley, who has been nominated three times in the category and now securing his first win, was not in attendance as he is currently touring in Australia.

Alexx Antaeus, who produced ‘Colors of Royal’ which was released last April, accepted the award and dedicated it to the people of Jamaica.

“I’d like to dedicate this to the people of Jamaica who have accepted me as one of their own and have lived up to the motto of the country, ‘Out of many one’,” he said on Sunday.

Another member of his team thanked the Marley family and remembered the late Joseph Mersa Marley and Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett.

Reggae artiste Kabaka Pyramid won the 2023 Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
