Haiti: Dominique Dupuy resigns from the Presidential Transitional Council

Sunday March 24, 2024, the Capoise Dominique Dupuy, Designated Representative of the Democratic Resistance (RED/EDE) platform, Historical Compromise and allies, submitted her resignation from the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) of Haiti due, among other things, to the comments sexist and unfounded criticisms against her made by actors and political sectors of the country on social networks.

“In addition to the unfounded political attacks against me and the threats on my life, my participation as the only young woman (34 years old) among 8 men comes up against obstacles that certain actors have decided to create,” declared Dominique Dupuy in a video announcing that she was returning to her position as Vice-President of UNESCO to “continue with the other projects” that she had launched.

Following the resignation of Dominique Duouy, the Democratic Resistance platform (RED/EDE), Historical Compromise and allies, designated on Sunday March 24 the former ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic Smith Augustin as new representative and sent his name to CARICOM. He is expected to participate in the meeting scheduled for Monday March 25 with CARICOM.
