Dominica: Police probe threats against Prime Minister Skerrit

Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit

Police on Friday said they are investigating “certain threats” being made against Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

Acting Police Commissioner Davidson Valerie in a statement said that the threats were being made “by a particular individual via social media.

“Let me state very clearly that these threats are being taken very seriously and investigations have begun into the matter with a view to finding the suspect involved.”

Valerie said the authorities are intent on bringing “that person to justice.

“This kind of conduct will not be tolerated and the police will act swiftly to deal with this matter,” said Valerie, who did not disclose the nature of the threat being made against Prime Minister Skerrit.

Skerrit, 52, is currently the longest-serving prime minister of Dominica, having been in the post since 2004.
