Dominica has a new Roman Catholic Bishop

Father Kenrick Forbes

A new Roman Catholic Bishop has been named by the Vatican for the Diocese of Roseau.

He is Father Kenrick Forbes from the Archdiocese of Nassau in The Bahamas.

He replaced Gabriel Malzaire, who is now Archbishop of Castries.

The announcement was made by Vatican Press Office on Thursday morning local time.

The statement said the Bishop-elect has three months to prepare for his ordination.

The Rev. Kendrick Forbes was born in Nassau, Bahamas, on August 20, 1975.

After attending primary school (Clarence Town All Age School) and secondary school (NGM Major High School, Buckley) in Long Island, he moved to Indiana (United States) to train for the priesthood at the “St. Meinrad College Seminary” where he completed his initial studies, earning a bachelor’s degree in history.

He then obtained a Master of Divinity (MDiv) and a Master of Theology from “St. Meinrad School of Theology”. He also obtained a Licentiate in canon law from the Catholic University of America and was ordained priest in Nassau on 1 June 2002.
