Dominica: Former govt minister fined $5000.00 forthwith for illegal importation of firearm accessories

The charges against his codefendant were dismissed.

Magistrate Michael Laudat has imposed $5,000.00 forthwith fine against former Government of Dominic minister and now Special Envoy in the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Kenneth Darroux who pleaded guilty to two firearm related offenses brought against him by the police.

Dr. Darroux, along with Chrisroy Fontaine, appeared before the Roseau Magistrate Court today, January 24, 2024, jointly charged with importation of a Glock 19 barrel and one Glock 17 slide without being the holders of valid firearms importation license. The pair opted for a summary trial and matter was heard in the Magistrate’s Court.

Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Sherma Dalrymple led the State’s case whilst attorneys-at-law Lennox Lawrence and Jodie Luke, represented the accused.

Following facts and a plea in mitigation by the defense, Dr. Darroux was fined $5,000.00 to be paid forthwith. The charges against his codefendant were dismissed.
