CARICOM Welcomes Installation of Transitional Presidential Council in Haiti

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) expressed its support for the formal installation of the Transitional Presidential Council in Haiti, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s path towards stability and development.

The nine-member Council was formally installed at the Palais National, representing a significant milestone achieved through a process led by Haitians and aimed at addressing the prolonged crisis affecting the nation.

In a statement, CARICOM Heads of Government commended the members of the Council and emphasized the importance of this moment as an opportunity to chart a new course for Haiti, instilling hope for a return to constitutional governance, stability, and sustainable development.

While acknowledging the significance of the installation, CARICOM underscored that it is just the beginning of a series of steps needed to address the formidable challenges facing both the Transitional Presidential Council and the Haitian people.

CARICOM reiterated its commitment to supporting the Council and the people of Haiti in their endeavors to restore constitutional and democratic legitimacy, stability, and sovereignty, while ensuring the proper functioning of state institutions.
