Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation announces new Board of Directors

The Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation (CFPA) recently elected its new Board of Directors during the Biennial General Meeting on 26 March 2024.

The CFPA expresses excitement about the opportunities ahead and is confident in the capabilities of the new board to lead the organisation. Here are the key appointments:

  • President: Roxanne Christopher (Bermuda), a seasoned professional with expertise in branding, media, crisis communications, and public relations. Her diverse experience promises to drive impactful change throughout the region.
  • Vice President: Dr Bernard Mc David (Guyana), a resilient medical practitioner dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities and discrimination, particularly in sexual orientation.
  • Trustees: Lady A Anande Trotman Joseph (Grenada), an accomplished attorney recognised for her advocacy in gender equality and anti-corruption efforts; and Dr Tonia Frame (Grenada), a public health expert passionate about sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a focus on adolescents and youth.
  • Treasurer: Jade Trim (Trinidad and Tobago), a youth advocate and MPhil student with a strong commitment to gender justice and feminist principles.
  • Secretary: Rakeem McFarlane (Grenada), a STEM enthusiast and advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights among youth.
  • Assistant Secretary/Treasurer: Giovanni Charles (St Lucia), a regional coordinator dedicated to fostering peace and social justice, particularly for marginalised communities.
  • Members: Dr Anna Kasafi Perkins (Jamaica), an ethics and quality assurance expert with a commitment to transformative justice; and Andrea Bruno Dominica), a sports enthusiast advocating for sexual rights and equity.

Additionally, the former President Dr Rosmond Adams (St Vincent and the Grenadines), continues to serve as an advisor alongside other esteemed advisors, including Sheila Roseau (Antigua and Barbuda) and Dr Fred Nunes (Jamaica/USA).

Finally, Rev. Patricia Sheerattan-Bisnauth, the CEO of CFPA, leads the organisation with her extensive experience in gender justice, sexual and reproductive health rights, and feminist theology. Her leadership aims to promote partnership and equity in the Caribbean and beyond.
