Bahamas’ Murder Count Climbs to 41 Amidst Fatal Shooting Incidents

The Bahamas’ murder count has risen to 41 following a fatal shooting incident outside a local nightspot in New Providence, police said. The killing occurred during the early morning hours of Monday, April 15, 2024.

This incident followed a similar fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 37-year-old male outside a local nightspot in Abaco early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 33-year-old male was shot dead outside a local nightspot on West Bay Street in New Providence sometime after 4:00 am Monday.

Police said the victim was in the parking lot of the business establishment, about to enter his vehicle when an argument ensued between him and another unidentified individual.

It is reported that the confrontation escalated, resulting in the unidentified individual producing a firearm and shooting the victim multiple times before fleeing the area, police confirmed.

Authorities said the victim, after being shot, managed to flee but collapsed a short distance away from his vehicle.

Emergency medical technicians examined him on the scene, but found no vital signs of life, police reports indicated.

Police are actively searching for the whereabouts of the suspect/s involved in this matter.

A little over 48 hours before this fatal incident unfolded in New Providence, police in Abaco were called to the scene of the shooting death of a 37-year-old man. The victim was shot dead while standing outside a business establishment shortly after 1:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Police are once again appealing to members of the public to find alternative ways to resolve their conflicts.
