Authorities Apprehend 19 Illegal Migrants in Cox Heath, Tortola

The Department of Immigration, with the assistance of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, apprehended 19 illegal migrants in Cox Heath, Tortola on Friday, April 19.

The illegal migrants, consisting of ten Romanians, seven Haitians, one Ecuadorian, and one Honduran nationals, including two minors, were detained by authorities following a tip from the public. They have been processed by the Department of Immigration and are currently detained, awaiting repatriation where possible.

Acting Chief Immigration Officer Mrs. Nadia Demming-Hodge expresses gratitude to the public for their assistance in contacting the department, which led to the apprehension of the migrants. Mrs. Demming-Hodge encourages residents to remain vigilant and to contact the Department of Immigration with information related to illegal migration in the Territory at telephone numbers 468-4705, 468-4717, 468-4754, or the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Hotline at 311.
