13 students reported killed in elementary school dorm fire in China

According to Chinese state media, all of the deceased were third-grade students.

Thirteen students died in China on Saturday after a fire reportedly broke out in dorms at a boarding school for elementary students in central Henan province.

According to Chinese state media, all of the deceased were third-grade students.

The Associated Press also reported that the dorm where the fire occurred was charred black, even on the outside of the building. The fire reportedly started on Friday night and was put out just before midnight at Yingcai School in the rural Fangcheng district in central Henan.

The school’s owner was reportedly detained.

Local authorities say they are investigating the cause of the blaze.
