Turks & Caicos: Three men charged with drug and firearm-related offences.

The accused appeared before a Magistrate yesterday (February 06) and were remanded in custody, pending a sufficiency hearing on April 10.

Officers of the Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force have charged three men with drug and firearm-related offences.

The accused – RYAN SMITH,41, of Providenciales, SHAKEME SEYMOUR, 43, of Grand Turk and JAMES FERGUSON,27, of Providenciales were charged on the evening of February 05.

Mr Smith, Mr Seymour and Mr Ferguson are charged with Conspiring to supply firearms and ammunition, while Mr Ferguson has an additional charge of Conspiring to supply cannabis.

The accused appeared before a Magistrate yesterday (February 06) and were remanded in custody, pending a sufficiency hearing on April 10.

In a brief statement, Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Rodney Adams said: “The rigorous law enforcement strategies implemented and our continued collaboration with international partner law agencies remains an ongoing process. The RTCIPF, alongside our partner agencies, will continue implementing robust operations to prevent and or detect firearms entering the beautiful by nature TCI.

“I again appeal to the public to give us information on illegal activities by calling 911, the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-8477(TIPS)”.
