Antigua has sadly recorded its third homicide of 2024: 23-year-old Ricaldo Joseph from Old Road.
The tragic event unfolded on Easter Saturday at a neighborhood bar, where Joseph and another Old Road resident engaged in a heated dispute.
The confrontation took a deadly turn when one individual brandished a machete, inflicting fatal wounds on Joseph to his head, neck, and arms.
A courageous 19-year-old male, attempting to defuse the situation, also suffered severe cuts to his wrist in the melee.
Despite efforts to save him, Joseph succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, the young hero remains hospitalized with critical injuries.
Law enforcement has detained the suspected assailant, who is currently under police custody and may face charges in the near future.
