SVG: Man killed following shooting in Edinboro

A 35-year-old man is St Vincent and the Grenadines’ latest murder victim.

Police reported Edinboro residents Dwayne Barnfield and Allan Lewis, 25, were walking along the Edinboro Public Road towards Kingstown on Thursday morning when they were attacked by a gunman while passing an area known as Nine Steps.

Barnfield and Lewis were shot multiple times and they were transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) by police who responded to reports of a shooting.

Barnfield underwent surgery and later succumbed to his injuries.

His death took the island’s 2023 murder figure to 53.

Police have appealed for information to solve the murder.

Tips can be given anonymously to an officer at any of the country’s police stations or by calling 999/911 and the Officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at 1-784-456-1810.

“If You See Something, Say Something! Do not cover up for the criminals. Work with the Police and share any information that you may have. Together, we can prevent crime, arrest and prosecute criminals, and make our communities safer. All information received would be treated confidentially.

Investigations into the cases are ongoing,” the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said in a statement.
