A frontal trough system in the vicinity continues to generate moist and unstable conditions across Montserrat. This wet weather pattern is forecast to continue into tomorrow, Friday.

Cloudy skies, periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms are, therefore, forecast to continue with the possibility of lahars occurring in the Belham Valley River and flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas across the island.

With the soils in Montserrat already saturated, additional rainfall can cause water puddles in the roads, rockfalls and extreme hillside water run-off.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving and pay close attention to puddles of water on the roads. Water puddles may be deeper than they seem and can cause damage to vehicles or injury.

The Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) will continue to monitor the weather conditions and provide updates when necessary.
