Fatal Police Shooting in St Vincent Sparks Investigation

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is currently conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting incident that transpired on Sunday 7th April 2024.

The individual involved has been identified as Anthony Joseph, also recognized by the alias “Tumba”.

Initial reports indicate that this engagement was precipitated by a formal complaint lodged against Mr. Joseph, who is reported to suffer from a mental health disorder. In response to this complaint, Police Officers, accompanied by the complainant, proceeded to Mr. Joseph’s residence to address the reported concerns.

Upon establishing a perimeter at the location, Mr. Joseph, reportedly armed with a knife, initiated a hostile act against the officers. Following operational protocols designed to ensure the safety of all involved, officers applied appropriate levels of force to neutralize the immediate threat posed by Mr. Joseph. Joseph was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH)where he subsequently died.

A subsequent inspection of the deceased body revealed the presence of an additional weapon in the possession of Mr. Joseph.
