Meredith Sharples

In a recent announcement, Digicel Group unveiled Meredith Sharples as the newly appointed Regional General Manager, effective from March 1, 2024. Tasked with overseeing Digicel Grenada, alongside providing strategic direction for Digicel Dominica and Digicel St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sharples steps into his new role with enthusiasm.

With a robust background spanning more than 20 years in the telecommunications realm, Sharples arrives at Digicel from Cambridge Management Consulting, where he held the mantle of Managing Partner, spearheading the Telecoms practice. His career has been marked by a track record of driving transformative change initiatives, orchestrating infrastructure developments, and overseeing mergers and acquisitions on a global scale.

Prior to his tenure at Cambridge Management Consulting, Sharples held pivotal leadership positions within the Vodafone Group, notably playing a crucial role in the rollout of the company’s inaugural triple-play offering and significantly expanding the fixed network business. Particularly noteworthy is his tenure as Managing Director of Post Office Telecoms in the United Kingdom, where Sharples achieved remarkable revenue growth, eclipsing £150 million, through adept business restructuring and a strong focus on customer-centric approaches.

Roeland Van Der Hoeven, Cluster CEO West Indies Region for Digicel Group, expressed optimism about Sharples’ appointment, remarking, “We are delighted to welcome Meredith to our team. With his wealth of experience, we anticipate positive outcomes for Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Dominica.”

Van Der Hoeven also extended gratitude to Oscar Arellano for his interim stewardship as CEO of Digicel Grenada during the transitional phase. For his part, Sharples conveyed excitement about his new role within Digicel and eagerly anticipates relocating with his family to Grenada. He is keen to leverage his expertise to propel growth and foster innovation across the region.
