The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, through Dr. Carla N. Barnett, Secretary-General of CARICOM, extends warm congratulations to the Honourable Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, on the occasion of the country’s Forty-Fifth Anniversary of Independence.
Dr. Barnett expressed in a statement, “On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I am pleased to congratulate the Government and People of Saint Lucia on the joyous occasion of your Forty-Fifth Anniversary of Independence.”
According to the Secretary-General, the theme “Douvan Ansanm: Building a Nation through Unity, Resilience, and Creativity” encapsulates the nation’s resilient spirit and cultural richness over the past four and a half decades, and CARICOM acknowledges Saint Lucia’s unwavering determination and stability in the face of challenges, wishing for continued peace and prosperity as the nation progresses forward.
Highlighting Saint Lucia’s significant contributions to regional integration, Dr. Barnett applauds Prime Minister Pierre’s leadership in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet, particularly in areas of Sustainable Development, Environment, Disaster Management, and Water.
She notes, “The contributions of Saint Lucia to the regional integration movement are well noted.”
Furthermore, Dr. Barnett celebrates Saint Lucia’s recent election to the Presidency of the Executive Board of UNESCO, recognizing the nation’s pivotal role in promoting education, science, culture, and sustainable development.
She extends best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to the Government and People of Saint Lucia, reaffirming CARICOM’s steadfast support for the nation’s progress and unity.
