CARICOM Expresses Concern Over Violation of Diplomatic Premises in Ecuador

In a recent press release, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has voiced its deep concern over actions taken by the Republic of Ecuador that have led to the violation of diplomatic premises in Quito.

According to CARICOM, these actions run counter to the principles of international law and the rules of diplomatic engagement outlined in the Vienna Convention. The convention emphasizes the inviolability of diplomatic missions and consular offices, a fundamental aspect of maintaining diplomatic relations between nations.

CARICOM has called for both Ecuador and Mexico, whose embassy in Quito was affected by the violation, to seek resolution through dialogue and relevant multilateral processes. The organization stresses the importance of peaceful resolution to such disputes to uphold regional stability and diplomatic norms.

The statement underscores CARICOM’s commitment to promoting peace and adherence to international law within the Caribbean region and beyond. As tensions escalate, CARICOM urges all parties involved to prioritize diplomatic dialogue and peaceful resolution to mitigate any further escalation of the situation.
