BVI: Suspect in custody for fatal shooting in 2023

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force says the victim, Azim Yonnas, 25, of Butu Mountain was in the Long Bush area on September 3 when he was pursued by two armed, masked individuals and was fatally shot. 

One person has been taken into custody for questioning in the British Virgin Islands in connection with the fatal shooting of a man last year. This arrest follows an extensive investigation spanning just over three months. 

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force says the victim, Azim Yonnas, 25, of Butu Mountain was in the Long Bush area on September 3 when he was pursued by two armed, masked individuals and was fatally shot. 

While the investigation remains ongoing, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force says exhaustive efforts are being made to collect all necessary evidence and ensure a comprehensive and fair legal process.
