The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Commonwealth of The Bahamas has issued a press release regarding the evacuation of diplomatic staff from the Embassy in Haiti. According to the release, the remaining three members of the diplomatic staff have been evacuated and will return to the capital for consultations.

Captain Godfrey Rolle, currently serving as Charge d’ Affairs at the Embassy, will be joined by two other officers who will continue to monitor the situation in Port au Prince remotely from Nassau.

The decision to evacuate was made due to the deteriorating security situation in Port au Prince. Despite this, there has been no indication that the Embassy or its personnel have been targeted.

The press release also emphasizes the government’s commitment to maintaining a diplomatic presence in Haiti when conditions allow and as deemed necessary. Additionally, it reaffirms The Bahamas’ dedication to supporting the Haitian people during this period of political transition.
