Guyanese police are searching for four armed men, who robbed the Wen Jie Supermarket at Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) last evening.
CCTV footage of the incident showed the men entering the supermarket around 8:46 pm and assaulting the cashier before robbing the register of approximately GYD $500,000 in cash.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said an anti-crime patrol unit responded to the robbery and they were shot at by the gunmen.
“The police patrol returned fire and one of the bandits is suspected to be injured. They escaped via some bushes at Phase One Farm, EBD,” the police force said.
