The Antigua and Barbuda Cabinet has announced its decision to enhance the cruise port by undertaking development on the north side of Rat Island.

This ambitious initiative aims to accommodate yachts and small cruise ships, foreseeing substantial returns on investment.

While the exact cost remains undetermined, the anticipated benefits are deemed to surpass the expenditure.

The proposed plan entails dredging the area to enable vessels with shallower draughts than those currently accommodated at the Heritage Quay docks to access the port.

This expansion presents an opportunity to attract more tourists and invigorate the local economy.
