The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has filed charges against Nihit Gurram, a 22-year-old Behavioral Therapist from California, in connection with the death of Siri Vaishnavi Mantena, a student from India.

Mantena, also 22 years old, was discovered deceased in the swimming pool of a hotel in Grand Anse, St. George on March 17.

In a statement issued last Monday, the RGPF disclosed that they were treating Mantena’s death as a potential drowning incident.

Initial investigations suggest that Mantena encountered difficulties while swimming in the hotel pool around 5 am. Despite attempts to resuscitate her using CPR, she failed to respond.

Gurram is slated to make an appearance at St. George’s Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 25th, 2024.
