St. Patrick's Festival

The St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Montserrat is a lively two-week celebration that reaches its peak on March 17th, a public holiday on the island. Montserrat is the only country outside of Ireland to mark St. Patrick’s Day as a national holiday, and the festival commemorates the thwarted slave uprising of 1768. The festivities include energetic street parades, outdoor concerts featuring soca and reggae, pub crawls, and delicious food fairs. Beyond the vibrant celebrations, there are also opportunities for land and sea tours, scenic hikes, and an exciting road race. This festival is a dynamic blend of history, culture and revelry.
