St Vincent and the Grenadines police say they do not suspect foul play in the death of a former national junior lawn tennis star, whose body was found by revellers leaving the annual Nine Mornings festivities in the city on Saturday.
They believe that Rohan Adams, who had been addicted to cocaine and was hospitalised recently, may have succumbed to the ills associated with the use of the drug.
But the police said they are conducting an investigation into the death of the 49-year-old whose body was found bent over the outside of a building in Heritage Square in the capital.
Over the years, there had been several failed attempts to rehabilitate Adams, who lived on the streets of Kingstown, and made a living washing vehicles and doing other odd jobs.
In 2006, lawyer Grant Connell, a lawn tennis enthusiast whom Adams had defeated in the junior championship, made one of his several attempts to rehabilitate the talented athlete.
